Original abstract

In recent times India is going with a full throttle in field of solar power generation with its known initiative known as Greenfield Solar Power Projects like 380MW solar project in Jaisalmer and a 300MW solar project carried out by Apaarava Energies in Rajasthan under NTPC. These plants are built on undeveloped lands or barren lands which not only helps the farmers owning those lands but also provide a large-scale land with no vegetation around it which helps to setup a more efficient plant. The productivity of the plant depends on the climatic conditions of the area and the materials used in the manufacturing of solar panels. Photovoltaic (PV) cells, or solar cells, are divided into four types by technology classification. They include among them the first two generations of the dominating cells. The first generation of cells includes the monocrystalline polycrystalline silicon cells and the gallium arsenide cells. They are very popular because they are good quality and cheap. The second-generation cells are thin-film cells. They are not as efficient as the others but are cheaper and easier to make. The more advanced the technologies are, the more efficient. New flexible thin-film technology and new nanomaterials such as graphene, carbon nanotubes, metallic nanoparticles, and metal oxides will be used by fourth-generation cells. Advanced research on solar cells is being done.
