Original abstract
Providing a stable power supply for small monitoring systems operating in locations without direct sunlight or electrical infrastructure remains a challenging task. In such environments, wireless energy transmission can serve as an alternative method of power delivery. In this case, optical energy to be transmitted from a light source to a distant receiver based on a reflector system was studied. The system presented is composed of three main parts: a light transmitter, a reflector equipped with a mirror, and a receiver with photovoltaic cells. The reflector redirects the light emitted from the transmitter toward the receiver, transforming the light energy generated from the transmitter into electricity. Due to the fact that the position of the reflector can be varied by disturbances, the control method is established, so that the transmitter, reflector, and receiver are coordinated. The transmitter emission angle and mirror reflection angle are modified using feedback from optical sensors and solar cells. To verify the proposed approach, a small-scale experimental setup was constructed. The transmitter-receiver distance was set to 30 cm, and the reflector was placed 20 cm above the connecting line. Optical sensors and solar cells were used to monitor the light beam and generated power, while servo motors controlled its alignment. The experimental results demonstrate that light delivery remains to the receiver in the face of horizontal disturbances, which proves that the use of reflector-assisted optical energy transmission is feasible for compact monitoring systems.
