Original abstract

The increasing demand for renewable energy and the need for efficient utilization of solar power have led to the development of intelligent solar energy harvesting systems. Conventional fixed solar panels receive maximum sunlight only for a limited period of the day, resulting in reduced energy generation. This research presents the development of an Automatic Solar Tracking System designed to maximize solar energy capture by continuously aligning the solar panel with the position of the sun. The proposed system detects the direction of maximum sunlight and automatically adjusts the panel orientation using a motorized tracking mechanism. The system integrates light-dependent resistors (LDRs), a microcontroller-based control unit, motor drivers, and DC motors to create an intelligent tracking platform capable of operating with minimal human intervention. By maintaining optimal alignment with solar radiation throughout the day, the proposed solution aims to improve energy efficiency, increase power output, reduce energy losses, and enhance the overall performance of solar photovoltaic systems.
