Original abstract
This study utilised the SCAPS-1D simulation program to examine the electrical performance, under AM1.5 illumination, of a CZTS-based thin-film solar cell having the following structure: FTO/TiO2/CZTS/Cu2O.Under idealised parameters, such as homogeneous defect distribution, simplified interface recombination, and optimised doping profiles, the simulation was run. These factors combined result in a theoretical maximum efficiency of 25.41 percent. The gap between this number and the experimentally reported record efficiency for CZTS cells (∼ 13%) is a result of numerical simulations using idealised material characteristics, which is worthy of attention..The primary objective of this work is to systematically study the effect of absorber layer thickness and operating temperature on key photovoltaic parameters including short-circuit current density (Jsc), open-circuit voltage (Voc), fill factor (FF), and power conversion efficiency (η).The cell efficiency was found to decrease from approximately 25.24% to 11.51% as the operating temperature increased from 300 K to 500 K.
